Chapter Names Recipients of the Caleb Brown Jr. Scholarship

The Brothers of the Cincinnati Alumni Chapter are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2016 Bro. Caleb Brown Jr. Scholarship.  Initially only given to one African American male, graduating from a Cincinnati-area high school, the selection committee felt that two individuals were equally deserving of our support for them to continue their education.

Elijah Catalan was this year’s recipient of a $1500 scholarship. Elijah is a graduate of Walnut Elijah CatalanHills High School, boasting a 4.47 GPA.  He will be furthering his education at Howard University, the home of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, where he will be studying Biochemistry.  While in high school, Elijah was the captain of the Cross Country and Track team, WHHS Sustainability Club 3rd Bell Recycling captain, and worked part time as a cashier at Kroger.  As one of his recommenders said, he is a respectful young man who works cooperatively with others.

Daniel Jett will be receiving a $1000 scholarship from the fraternity.  Graduating from Mount Healthy Screen Shot 2016-05-27 at 10.32.20 AMJunior/Senior High School with a 4.30 GPA, he will be continuing his educational journey at the University of Cincinnati, where he will be majoring in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering.  While in high school, Daniel was a member of the Band, Academic Team, Student Government, and the National Honor Society.  He also proved his resiliency by having perfect attendance all four years of high school!  He was also a captain of the football team and member of the track and field team.

The Caleb Brown Jr. Scholarship is co-sponsored by the Delta Theta Sigma Chapter Foundation, Inc., the non-profit affiliate to the chapter.  To make a tax deductible contribution to the scholarship, please contact Justin Gibson, the Foundation’s Chairman, at 513.314.3467 or at justin_gibson@me.com.
