Chapter Reestablishes Local Sigma Beta Club

On Sunday November 2, the Cincinnati Alumni chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. celebrated the reestablishment of the local Sigma Beta Club!  Four young men from the Cincinnati area were inducted into the oldest youth auxiliary program among the historically African American fraternities and sororities in the country.

“The Sigma Beta Club Induction ceremony was a great event that reminded the community and  our new SBC initiates that their lives are valuable and that The Brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. in Cincinnati are committed to making a positive impact on young black men’s lives” says Bro. Irvin Carney, coordinator of the local Sigma Beta Club.

The SBC program is for young men ages 8-18 who have an interest in social, academic, and personal development.  Programs the young men will participate in are community service, programs with other young groups around the region, and attending the fraternity’s National Conclave in Little Rock, AR in July 2015.

“The Sigma Beta Club is the root of our fraternity’s principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship and Service,” says Justin M. Gibson, President of the Alumni Chapter.  “We stand with President Obama and his ‘My Brothers’ Keeper’ program, and the SBC aligns with the goals of his administration.”

Membership into the Sigma Beta Club is accepted throughout the year.  If you or someone you know is interested in SBC, please visit http://cincinnatisigmas.com/initiatives/sigma-beta-club/ or contact Bro. Irvin Carney directly at 334.590.4564.
