Cincinnati Sigmas Partner with Alpha Kappa Alpha on ASCEND Program

The Cincinnati Alumni Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. is pleased to announce their collaboration with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Sigma Omega Chapter with their signature event, ASCEND.

 The ASCEND program is designed to motivate, engage and assist high school students in reaching their maximum potential.  ASCEND will focus on Achievement, Self-Awareness, Communication, Engagement, Networking and Developmental skills. Students in the ASCEND program will be coached in academic enrichment, and receive life training skills to support their journey to college or vocational employment. The sorority will place additional emphasis on SMART careers (Science, Math And Related Technologies).

 “The women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Sigma Omega Chapter are excited to partner with the men of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Delta Sigma Chapter”, said Sandra D. Mosley, ASCEND Program Chair for the Sigma Omega Chapter.  “Together, we will engage in the sorority’s signature youth enrichment program to motivate, engage and assist high school students – males and females – in reaching their maximum potential.”

The ASCEND program will meet six times, one Saturday a month from January through June from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (the location will be disclosed at the time of your acceptance letter is sent out).  A nominal fee of $10.00 must accompany this application, along with a copy of your most recent report card, and letter of recommendation from a counselor, teacher or community leader.
