Caleb Brown, Jr. Scholarship

The Caleb Brown, Jr. Scholarship is available to African American males graduating from any Cincinnati-area high school.  Students must be attending an accredited four-year institution.  The application also requires two short essays.  The application deadline is April 15, with notifications going out by the middle of that month.

Scholarship eligibility
To be eligible to receive the Caleb Brown, Jr. Scholarship, each applicant must be:

  • a male, African American high school student graduating in Spring
  • attending a high school in the Greater Cincinnati area
  • accepted into a four-year accredited college or university.

Scholarship amount and disbursement
The amount of the scholarship that will be awarded will total $1,500. The funds will be disbursed directly to the institution of higher education that the recipient will be attending in two separate payments – one before the Fall Semester and the other before the Spring Semester. In the event the recipient is not enrolled in the institution, the funds will be returned to the Foundation to be disbursed to the next four-year institution in that same year, or will be forfeited.

About Caleb Brown, Jr.
The award is named in honor of our brother Caleb Brown, Jr., who was initiated into the Nu Chapter at Central State University on June 1, 1968. Since that time, Bro. Brown has served in various leadership capacities within the chapter, state and region. Vocationally, he is an attorney in the Cincinnati area who has distinguished himself as a respected legal voice within our community.  On January 5, the brothers of the Delta Theta Sigma alumni chapter bestowed upon him the distinction of President Emeritus for his tireless work and representation of our fraternity.
